books and life

well.... recently i have reading some books by Murakami Haruki and Yoshimoto Banana.. not that i am reading them for fun but more for class.. hee.. still... these are books and themes which i would love to have read, and for that, i am thankful for the class for making me read these books.. the past lectures of Murakami have certainly left me yearning for more... go read his books!! hee.. start with the Elephant Vanishes for a taste of his style. It's a collection of short stories and each of them a delightful read...:) they also has a lot to do with many issues of his days and this was truly what blew me over...

well.. i just finished reading Yoshimoto's Kitchen and... sigh... i wanna read it again and again.... it somehow touches me at the core of my being... while Murakami's work was dealing with a larger issue of societal changes and such, (i think...) Yoshimoto's Kitchen touches at a more personal level... hee... cant wait to go for class to find out more about what is hidden behind this book...:)

all in all, books and life really have lotsa connection together, be it fantasy books, fiction, non-fiction.... all of them have something which touches us, perhaps living in a world we have always dreamed off, running away to this far-away land in the security of dragons and knights, or simply us connecting with the characters in the book.... and for these reasons, i really enjoy reading a good book... sitting somewhere and immersing myself in this other world...:)

lettting go....

why is it so difficult to let go of stuff? gaining it was always that simple, but after i have gotten it, i find it so hard to let go sometimes. sure, i know the metaphor of the hand holding on to something, that if i dun let go, i wont be able to get something new... but often, i dun want something new, i just want that old thing... yet, things are often not that way. as much we hope that we will be in control all the time, most of the time, we find ourselves losing this control. yet knowing this, we want to control it more...

hmm.. lookin at this post, i think i better keep check of myself..;p less i fall into the treacherous pit of self-despair. despair leads to fear. fear leads to hate. and hate leads definately not to Macdonalds.
